Lilleø Vin
📍 Lilleø, 4941 Bandholm
Lilleø Vin is one of Denmark's most distinguished wine projects, rooted on the small island of Lilleø in the Smålandshav north of Lolland. The vineyard was established in 2006 on the initiative of Claus Meyer, Anders Selmer and René Redzepi, inspired by German winemaker Martin Steinmann and with the ambition of producing the finest white wines in the Nordic region. Today, 2.5 hectares of vineyards are operated by Claus Meyer and the Saunte family, who also manage the island's fruit cultivation. Since 2015 the wine has been pressed and vinified in Denmark, in close collaboration since 2021 with trained oenologist Nathalia Edwards. Lilleø's unique microclimate — with intense heat on south-facing slopes and the sea's protective effect against spring night frost — yields grapes of exceptional quality. The island is reached by ferry from Kragenæs to Askø, then across a narrow causeway.
