Mogenstrup Kirke
📍 Kirkeskovvej 6, 4700 Næstved
Free
Mogenstrup Kirke was built in the 1100s from granite fieldstone and serves as an annexe church to Næstelsø Kirke. The Romanesque section contains frescoes from around 1425, signed by the painter Morten Maler, including a depiction of Christ as World Judge in the eastern vault of the chancel. The original spring block from Sankt Mogens Kilde is preserved in the church porch. The altarpiece is a plaster copy of Bertel Thorvaldsen's sculpture "Christ in Emmaus". The church formerly belonged to the noble families Gyldenløve and Danneskiold-Samsøe, becoming parish property in 1916.
